In a recent speech, Dhananjaya said that all he thinks about is cinema at present and he plans to go nowhere leaving it behind.

Is producer-actor Daali Dhananjaya entering the political sphere? The actor was approached by the Karnataka ruling party with a proposition to run for the forthcoming Lok Sabha election from Mysuru, therefore this was the major question last Friday evening. Dhananjaya is thought to have communicated with the Congress leadership, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah included, regarding the same matter.

Pratap Simha, a former journalist and Center Party member, is the current Member of Parliament for Mysuru. He enjoys great popularity in his constituency. Congress has approached Dhananjaya and hopes to capitalise on his connection to the Heritage City, as he is a well-known actor who spent a significant portion of his formative years in Mysuru.

However, many are sceptical about Dhananjaya’s political entry at a time when he has been very busy with his acting assignments. The actor has several interesting Kannada projects coming up, including the directorial debut of former Colours TV business head Parameshwar Gundkal, Koti, Rohit Padaki’s two-part gangster film Uttarakaanda, which is Ramya’s comeback to the screen; and Badava Rascal director Shankar Guru’s Anna From Mexico.

And now, putting all speculations about whether he agreed to Congress’ proposal to rest, the answer has come from the horse’s mouth itself. Daali Dhananjaya has refuted all rumours of him joining any political party. In a recent speech, Dhananjaya said that all he thinks about is cinema at present and he plans to go nowhere leaving it behind. He said that he has been working on a lot of movies presently and did not have time for anything else at present.

The actor was in Hyderabad for some shoot, when he heard that there were talks of him joining politics. “Media has even granted me a party ticket,” he said. So, as for now, any plans of the actor taking the political plunge are ruled out. Dhananjaya is still steadfast in his commitment to making sure that his company, Daali Pictures, provides a platform for up-and-coming talent, whether it be in front of the camera, on the technical side, or both. Considering how successful his career has been, it will be intriguing to watch if he decides to take a stab at politics in the future.
