Pat Cummins is looking forward to the second qualifier after Sunrisers Hyderabad were outclassed by Kolkata Knight Riders.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Pat Cummins was a disappointed man after being outclassed by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

With their eight-wicket win over SRH, KKR entered their fourth IPL final.

SRH captain Pat Cummins is already looking forward to the second qualifier as they will meet the winners of the Eliminator between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals in the Qualifier 2 in Chennai on Friday.

“Yeah we will try to put this behind quickly, good thing we will have a crack at it (second qualifier),” SRH captain Pat Cummins said after losing to KKR in qualifier 1.

“You have those days in T20 cricket where things doesn’t quite work out. We weren’t where we wanted with the bat and obviously couldn’t do much with the ball,” he added.

Mitchell Starc stuck thrice in the powerplay as KKR bowled out Sunrisers Hyderabad for 159. Rahul Tripathi top-scored for SRH with 55 off 35 balls while Heinrich Klaasen smashed 32 off 21 balls. The 62-run stand between Tripathi and Klaasen was the lone positive in an otherwise underwhelming batting effort.

KKR then gunned down the target in 13.4 overs, thanks to Venkatesh Iyer (51 not out) and skipper Shreyas Iyer’s (58 not out) unbeaten knocks.

“Felt that extra batting was important (picking the impact sub) on this wicket. Thought KKR bowled really well, there was a little bit in it early on and the surface got better,” Cummins said.

“We all have played enough cricket, and going to a new venue (Chennai) helps us as well, so we gotta keep this behind and move on,” he added.
