Sunrisers Hyderabad produced an all-round show to outclass Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2024 second qualifier in Chennai on Friday night.

Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins feels his players are “pumped up” to face off against Kolkata Knight Riders in the final of this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL), scheduled for Sunday.

The Hyderabad-based side earned the bragging rights after overcoming Rajasthan Royals in the Qualifier 2 at Chepauk.

Before leaving the dressing room after the important victory, Cummins showered plaudits on the heroes of the playoff clash – Shahbaz Ahmed and Abhishek Sharma – who put up a commanding bowling performance to defend a target of 175.

In a clip shared by SRH on their social media, Cummins said, “Wonderful game tonight. We got 170-odd with the bat. We probably would have liked a few more runs. Then we went out to bowl, decent powerplay and then the spin twins Abhishek and Shahbaz were amazing, took key wickets through the middle overs and ended up restricting them to 139 for 7,”

Heinrich Klaasen also looked thrilled after punching his ticket to the final of the 2024 IPL.

Klaasen was the top-performing batter for SRH in Qualifier 2. While the majority of the middle-order players managed just single-digit scores, Klaasen notched up a brilliant half-century to revive the innings.

Batting on a tricky surface at Chepuak, the South African batter breached the fifty-run mark in 34 deliveries, striking four sixes.

After the game, Klaasen revealed his excitement ahead of the title clash.

“Hi guys, we are into the final first of all. The guys played incredibly well. It was not the easiest game as the wicket was tough up front. We had to rebuild a little bit and get some score. And then our two left-arm spinners (Shahbaz and Abhishek) pulled it back for us. Shahbaz bowled incredibly well and Abhi took the big wicket of Sanju,” Klaasen said before turning the camera toward his teammates, who were celebrating the playoff win.

Abhishek, who has been in the headlines for his devastating batting, demonstrated his bowling talent against RR.

The left-arm spinner picked two wickets while conceding only 24.

Shahbaz Ahmed was the star of the show with the ball, taking three wickets and giving just 23 runs.
